The genesis of Woodvale Woods Wellness

Woodville Woods is an eighteen acres forest farm in rural East Tennessee where I’ve been slowly carving out an off-grid homestead for myself and my pack of misfit rescues. I first moved out here in an RV, with no utilities and no real camping experience in the last 30 years, and I was in pure survival mode. It has tested my fortitude, shifted my perspective and given me a sense of inner strength and connection to the earth that I would not have that thought possible.

Woodville Woods Wellness grew out of my desire to help people who move through the world a little differently find their own version of that steadiness. Instead of chasing quick fixes or one‑size‑fits‑all routines, I focus on practical, nervous‑system‑friendly changes that actually fit your life. The frameworks and sessions I offer here were first tested on this land, in the middle of real life and real stress, and they’re meant to give you the same thing I found out here: a way forward that feels honest, sustainable, and fully yours.

I am Heidi Michelle, the human behind Woodville Woods Wellness. I don’t stand much behind titles, but I can tell you that on this land, I am the official mortgage payer and keeper of all the food, and that makes me quite important!

I was originally born in Oregon, but have lived all over the country, from Cocoa Beach, FL to Savannah, GA, Denver, Co, New Orleans, LA, Nashville, TN and I have made my home, here in the Appalachian foothills.

I have a mechanical engineering degree from Georgia Tech and spent nearly twenty years in construction project management and I have been running my own business for the last nine years in construction risk management. These days, I still use the same systems and project management skills but now I turn it toward nervous‑system‑friendly strategies, real‑life logistics, and boundary work for folks who march to the beat of a different drum, whether through neurodivergence or defiance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Great question!

Therapists use a medical model that is based on diagnosing a problem and then trying to “fix” it.

I don’t think you need to be fixed. Maybe somethings are working better than others. I am here for trait-neutral practical support. We’ll map out what’s getting in your way, then build tiny, sustainable systems so life feels more like yours and less like a problem to solve.

  • Welcome to the club! I am neurodivergent and I too have a natural resistance to being told what to do. This process is collaborative and is highly client centered. I will provide some framework that I have found helpful, especially in the early sessions, but every session is going to modified based on what you need. You are driving the whole way, so if something doesn’t work for you, we change it!

  • Anything you want! Usually we’re looking at where you are now, where you’d like to be, and what’s getting in the way. That can touch health, work, relationships, hobbies, home stuff – nearly anything.

I’m not a medical doctor or licensed mental health professional, so I can’t diagnose or treat medical or mental health conditions, but I can help you translate your doctor or therapist’s recommendations into real‑life systems that actually fit your brain. We can absolutely talk about feelings and what’s happening in your life; if we bump into something that needs a different kind of support, I’ll help you find other resources and stay alongside you while you plug them in.

  • I do not have any religious affiliations, and this is not faith‑based coaching. I work with people from all kinds of backgrounds and beliefs, including folks who are Christian, queer, gay, trans, non‑monogamous, witchy, secular, or questioning. I won’t bring religion into our work unless you specifically ask for it. Everyone is welcome here.

  • This is a whatever you need it to be thing!

Some people are looking for support for a certain issue and then they feel comfortable heading out on their own. Awesome! I’m always here if they need additional help.

Some people are working on bigger changes and might want support for a few months or might pop in more frequently as things come up.

This is about what you need, so the open sessions are available for. you to schedule however you want.

  • I’m not here as a guru with a ten‑step program. I’m a mechanical‑engineer‑turned‑forensic‑construction‑nerd who has spent years pattern‑spotting how systems fail – mechanical systems, water pumps, nervous systems, food routines. I’m also a neurodivergent, off‑grid, animal‑anchored human who’s been living some shit, figuring it out in real time.

If you want someone who will treat your life like a real system, experiment with you, and not pathologize your traits, that’s where I’m qualified.

  • Understood!

First, you schedule a Vibe Check session. It’s free, 15 minutes long, and we just hang out. I find out a bit more about your goals, and you can find out a bit more about me. If we decide we want to move forward, I’ll send you the intake paperwork (as basic as I can make it). Then you decide where to start: open sessions, or a series. Check out the Sessions page for more info, jot down any questions, and we’ll cover those in our Vibe Check.

Sessions are 36 minutes long and scheduled through Practice Better. Right now I’m open Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, but if you need a different day, let me know. Our goal here is to alleviate anxiety and stress, not cause more of it. If you’re stuck on something you can’t find an answer to, email me through the Contact Me button or send me a message in Practice Better.

I have more questions and I’d like to contact you!

I’d love to hear more about the different sessions you offer!

I’m in!! Take me to your schedule!
